Better Late Than Never!

Our baby Daliah has arrived!! She was born on August 27th, 2008 and is the most perfect little creature you ever laid your eyes on. How could anything be more pure? She was 7lbs, 19" long and so far, has blue eyes but looks JUST like her daddy!

I'll be posting more - hopefully I can keep up with this thing although it's not my biggest hobby and sometimes the time just slips away from me so I do have a hard time but I will try for everyone to keep it up. I'll be adding more "family" events and switching it around a little now that we're a family of 4!

Looking forward to blogging with all of you and for those of you who are near by - once this hurricane mess is over with - lets celebrate!!!

The Nursery - Ta Da!!

Ok, so it's far from being complete but here's a sneak peak at the Nursery (with our furraby Cali acting as primo model). We still have shelving, curtains and decoration to put up, and of course we will rearrange till we're completely satisfied as we'll have a glider and some shelving also to squeeze in the room!

Believe me, from the lime green gloss walls with the ancient dinasaur border trim that was plastered to the ceiling from the previous owners (I'm sure their 2 yr old son was just thrilled with the decor! Us on the other hand, think NOT), this is a HUGE makeover!!! Oh and check out the rug I found...whatcha think? I figured if I laid it out I could stare at it for the next 80 days and figure out if I like it or not. I mean its a huge decision for a non decision maker to make!

80 Days & Counting!

Oh My God, ONLY 80 days left!! But who's counting right? I AM!!!

With a fresh coat (or 5) of paint on the walls, the nursery is finally coming together. If anything teaches you patience before a baby is born, it's putting nursery furniture together, so if anyone needs a quick refresher course, come right over! There's still so much to do! With a house that was built in '58 yeah there's a lot more refurb work then you would imagine, at first sight. So we're working on redoing the closet and trying to figure out why the baseboards aren't flush with the walls...Again, come right over! Special thanks to Kabby & Pops (Tina & Phil) for coming in to town to do all of that for us - we love you!

Seriously though, it's looking really pretty and in the end it'll be fit for our princess. I washed my first load of baby laundry last night and to be honest it felt kind of surreal as I was sitting on the bed folding it all and making up our little girls crib it kind of all fell into place and then I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry till I remembered that that was just hormones, so I did both and got it out of my system! So now I'm on the search for the perfect rug to tie the room together. Wish me luck and if you have any suggestions, let me know! I'll post a pic tonight of the room progress.

Saturday my wonderful girlfriends threw me a baby shower - it was the best baby shower I've ever been to by far, my girls are just absolutely wonderful to me - they laugh when I get stretch marks and tell me yes, I'm fat, but they also assure me that it's all for a good cause and how awesome it is that "we're" having a baby. ha. I love you girls!!

It's all in the Name!

Since this is the internet and we're over a stones throw away - we thought we would announce that we have decided on a name for our precious baby girl. While we realize some of you may or may not like the name that we have chosen, we respectfully ask that in the words of Thumper "if you can't say sumthing nice, then don't say nuthin' at all". That being said - her name shall be....(drum roll)......

Daliah Lynn

Daliah is a hebrew name meaning "Tree Branch" and Lynn is in honor of my aunt who passed away a few years ago. It also happens to be Mikes moms middle name so it was quite fitting for the occasion!

So, there you have it - the secret is out! We hope you like it, but again, if not, to each their own.

The long awaited day finally came where we saw... 2 legs, 2 arms, 2 feet, 2 hands, a beautiful face and the absence of 'boy parts'

IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!

Not a dry eye was in the house yesterday when we saw our little angel. Her heartbeat is strong and she's growing bigger each day. Right now she only weighs about 12oz so she's got a way to go (as does mom) before she's ready to see the world! We are SO excited!!!

Baby Celebration

The rumors are true...there's a Solomon Baby on the way!

Our next appointment will be on March 25th where we will hear the heartbeat for the first time. We're so excited and can't wait. In April we'll find out the big question everyone is dying to know...Is it a boy or a girl?? We'll have to wait to find out...but don't worry, we'll let you know as soon as we do!!

Advice Column...you know you want to...

A pregnant belly enters a room, and lo and behold everyone just happens to be an expert with advice to offer.

And, hey, we do our homework, but that doesn't mean we know it all. We can parent furbabies like nobody's business, and pre-teens well that's another story all together, but the baby variety, well that's all a bit of a new mystery around here.

So, let's hear those gems of insight, those pearls of wisdom, and those tales of baby wrangling genius that might prove useful some pre-dawn morning when Darlin' Baby Solomon is howling inconsolably and the desperation is setting in. Who knows, by then we might just be willing to try anything!

The Name Game!!

We all know everyone has their input in what they think is the 'perfect' name for this wee one and just so you know currently, the babys name happens to be 'lilbit' or to Dylan, the name is '2bit'.

But, as time goes on eventually lilbit will need a real name...so we know you're dying to give us suggestions, and we'll probably laugh, cry and cringe at some of the suprising names that come out of all of this but that shouldn't stop you from throwing them out there.

So, lets hear it! To the Bobs and the Billys, the Jills and the Mary's, the floor is open so come on and spill it!
